Beefeater $22.99 Orig. 24.99

750ml - Beefeater is a particularly fresh, clean and crisp gin with a subtle citrus and fruit edge, balanced by the spice of coriander and the earthliness of Angelica. The complexity of the Beefeater recipe, together with its minimum 40 percent ABV bottling strength, produces a gin which is multi-dimensional in character with background notes of spice, root and juniper. These elements combine to form a complex gin while remaining balanced and well-rounded.

Wine Enthusiast: 90-95 Points

A textbook London Dry Gin bouquet; floral, earthy, spicy and crisp with dry notes of orange peel and black pepper all underpinned by the presence of juniper berry. The palate entry is sharp, crisp, dry and botanically balanced; at midpalate a burst of citrus juiciness counters the earthiness of the juniper and angelica root. Finishes with a wonderful rush of juniper.

Inside the recognizable green bottle, look for bold juniper plus notes of anise, lemon peel, and a faint white-floral touch, laced with black pepper heat. Overall, a clean, classic profile that s just the ticket for gin & tonics. - K.N.

In 1872, Walter and Alfred Gilbey began to produce Gilbey’s London Dry Gin in their own distillery. By the 1930s the business was such a success that distilleries were opened in Australia and Canada (the distillery in Australia was opened in the late 1920s, and the distillery in Canada was opened in 1933). Walter and Alfred Gilbey’s Gin company eventually became the foundation for International Distillers and Vintners Ltd. Gilbey’s uses orange peel as one of it 12 botanicals to give it’s unique citrus taste.
